From Kyoto’s Historic Handmade Tea Caddy Maker, Kaikado: Copper Tea Caddy Engraved with teamLab Logo Launches August 8 at teamLab Biovortex Kyoto
teamLab Biovortex Kyoto will introduce the ‘Tea Caddy - Copper 120g’ to its shop starting Saturday, August 8, 2026. Made by Kaikado, a historic maker of handmade tea caddies in Kyoto, and engraved with the teamLab logo, the item will be available at the Sketch Factory inside the museum. teamLab Biovortex Kyoto will continue to deepen its engagement with Kyoto’s historic craftsmanship and explore new initiatives. Tea Caddy - Copper 120g Each Kaikado tea caddy is individually handcrafted, one by one, using the same process and the same method that have remained unchanged for over a century. Boasting a superb airtight feature, it protects and preserves a variety of products; coffee beans, tea leaves, dried herbs, spices and pasta from moisture and humidity. Thanks to this high airtightness, when you release your hand while closing the lid, the lid descends slowly to the exact level in a silky and silent motion—a movement unique to a tea caddy. Gently caressing the entire body of the caddy with the palm of your hand day after day, brings out a change within a few days to a few weeks of first use; as time passes, the color tone shifts and brings out an elegant rich sheen. This Tea Caddy - Copper is a chabitsu (a covered container used to store a set of tea utensils) designed for a Torikomi-bon (tray). Tea caddies for Torikomi-bon are slightly smaller in size, crafted to fit neatly inside this chabitsu.
